Zoological Society of London (ZSL) works in some of the world’s most environmentally important sites. This includes the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, home to the critically endangered mountain gorilla. As a charity we rely on public support to protect and conserve places of exceptional biodiversity. Donate £3 or more a month and as a thank you we will send you your very own gorilla toy.
Virunga was the first of Africa’s protected areas and is a UNESCO heritage site. Since 2002 ZSL been working to rebuild the capacity of the Congolese conservation authority, to restore the long-term integrity of the park following years of civil conflict. In 2010 we also launched a major conservation collaborative project focused on the endangered Okapi, a close relative of the Giraffe.
